Still in Sahuarita

I woke up this morning, as usual, when my body told me it was time, instead of when my alarm clock did. It's one of the joys of summer I enjoy the most.  Yet, to my horror, when I looked at the clock, it read 7:00 AM.  Now, it's usually strictly against my personal morals to wake up anytime before noon, but I was wide awake, so up I rose.  After lazing around for a couple hours and eating breakfast, I decided it was time to do something productive (kind of).  So, as you might guess, I picked up the camera and headed out with my sister to take a walk with my sister and the dogs.  We managed to hold Micki still for a couple of nanoseconds so I could get a couple shots of her.  The depth of field was a little too shallow, I think, but they turned out well.

I let the dogs and Melanie run off without me, and explored a little on my way home.  There was more of the usual, more of the same stuff I've been shooting the past couple of days, but I managed to find new elements of the old scenes.  A couple of flowers were opened up on a prickly pear, and the bees were taking advantage of the pollen buffet, rolling around inside.  This yielded some good shots.  I had hoped to catch a bee as it was just landing, but I was too slow, and it was gone again by the time I was able to release the shutter again.  Next time: continuous shooting mode.  I couldn't fire fast enough with the single shot mode I was in.

Some of the following shots are of one of my sister's greatest prides (besides her new dog): her bone collection.  The cows that the developer allows to inhabit our subdivision are good in the way that they leave their skeletons behind for my sister to find and bring home.  She's got all different kinds, including those of deer, in various stages of decay, though I chose to photograph those that were more dried out.

So, I still don't know how long I'll be here, but I'm hoping to get into my new place and get back into the city.  Making the 45 minute commute back and forth from work has gotten a little old, even though the ride and scenery are nice.  But until repairs on the new place are done, and the power is turned back on, here I will remain.

Thanks for reading.
