First Post

After refreshing the UPS tracking page about a million bajillion times today at work, and doubting that the "OUT FOR DELIVERY" status would ever change, I came home to find the package sitting on the kitchen countertop.  Could it be?!  Yes, it could.  And it was.  My new Canon EOS Rebel T2i with 18-55mm kit lens.  I was like Ralphie with his Red Ryder BB Gun on Christmas morning.  I even put off dinner for a few minutes to open it up.  Those that know me can tell you; resisting hunger is not one of my strong suits.  As soon as I had finished wolfing down my food and speed washing the dishes, I headed out to my backyard to see what I could do with my new toy.

Now, my backyard isn't like most people's backyards.  Mine (or my parents', rather) stretches quite a ways, and is absent of all but gorgeous views of the mountains close by.  After a little begging, I coaxed my dog into coming with me, and we went off to find some good places to shoot.  What follows are the (better) examples of what I ended up with.  By no means am I claiming that these are professional shots; they're obviously not.  There's a lot I have to improve on, and I'm using these shots merely as a benchmark to compare future shots with.  For those of you that have any photography experience at all, and even those that don't, let me know what I can do better.

On the whole, this blog will serve as a medium for me to record my life, and hopefully the progress I make with photography and music.  I won't promise that I'll update often, because I usually have a fairly short interest span with blogs and such.  I won't promise that it'll be interesting.  I will promise that I will thank you for reading.

Thank you for reading.
