Day Two

I was really excited for a second shot (no photography pun intended) at my backyard today.  To make sure I didn't miss out on good conditions, I made sure I was home before the sun went down.  I didn't want to have another low-light problem like yesterday.  Sure enough, I got home, and the sun was still ablaze in the afternoon sky.  It was approaching the angle at which rays began to shine more and more horizontally through the leaves of the trees and the grass.  Perfect.

However, first things being first, we had to eat.  I took a couple shots of my sister making dinner, and experimented with objects at different distances in the depth of field before the food was ready.  I was excited at the opportunity to redeem myself from the lackluster results I achieved yesterday, and hurried as much as I could to finish my tuna and green beans.  I didn't think such a simple dinner would take too long,  but my sister reminded me as I was getting up to leave that there was still chocolate cappuccino mousse to be had.  I savored it as quickly as I could, but after that, there was still one last dreaded thing keeping me from the camera: DISHES.  Nobody likes dishes.  They're not fun at all, and your hands get all pruny by the end.  I really can't fathom why we still do them.

By the time I had rinsed the last pot and dried the last lid, the sun hung just above the ridgeline of the mountains, taunting me to get out before it disappeared until morning.  I grabbed my camera and got out the door, quickly pacing my way to a good spot.  I removed the lens cap, flipped the "On" switch, and brought the viewfinder to my eye.  Perfect.  As I focused, I thought to myself "This might totally make up for yesterday," and I snapped the shot.

"NO MEMORY CARD AVAILABLE."

Crap.  So I ended up heading back and grabbing the card I had left in my computer, and heading back out to make the best of the evening.  It turned out better than yesterday (I think), which I'm happy about. Hopefully the trend continues.
